How to Track Tel Link Analytics Using Analytify Pro — Documentation page title
Analytify Enhanced Tel Link Analytics tracks every click on tel links across your WordPress site and reports the results inside your dashboard, including call volume, peak hours, device breakdown, traffic source, and caller country codes.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to set up and track tel link analytics using Analytify, ensuring you can start making data-driven decisions in minutes.
Track Tel Links Analytics (TOC):
What This Feature Tracks
Analytify fires a call-click event to GA4 on every tel: link click, capturing device, location, traffic source, and timestamp data as custom dimensions.
These parameters are stored as custom dimensions and used to generate detailed reports inside Analytify for you to track tel link analytics.
Tracked Data Points
- Tel link label or anchor text (e.g., Call Sales, Call Support)
- Page URL where the click occurred
- Device category (desktop, tablet, mobile)
- Traffic source/medium and campaign data (when available)
- Local timestamp of the click (used for peak hours analysis)
- Caller country code (e.g., PK, US, GB)
Prerequisites: Track Tel Link Analytics
Before you begin, ensure your setup includes:
- Analytify Pro: Installed and activated on your WordPress site.
- Events Tracking Addon: Installed and activated via Analytify >> Addons.
- GA4 Connection: Your Google Analytics property must be connected and authenticated.
Step 1: Enable Tel Link Tracking
Once tracking is active, the Enhanced Tel Link Analytics dashboard is available inside your Analytify reports.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
- Navigate to Analytify >> Addons.
- Locate the Events Tracking addon.
- Click Activate.
- Analytify will now start sending call_click events to Google Analytics whenever a tel: link is clicked.

Step 2: Access Your Call Reports
Once the setup for track tel link analytics is active, you can view your data within a dedicated section of the dashboard.
- Navigate to Analytify >> Dashboard.
- Click on the Events Tracking tab.
- Select Enhanced Tel Links Tracking.

Step 3: Understand Your Call Data
The dashboard provides several report areas to help you analyze your phone traffic, as the screenshot below, for you to track tel link analytics:

The above report shows individual tel links tracked on your site. Each row shows the link label or anchor text and its associated click data for the selected date range.
| Report Area | What it Shows |
| Call Analytics Summary | Total clicks, unique callers, and the top pages, as well as peak hours driving calls. |
| Tel Links Analytics Table | A list of specific link labels (e.g., “Call Sales”) and their click counts. |
| Country Codes Table | A breakdown of callers by country (e.g., US, GB, PK). |
| Devices and Sources | Shows if callers are using mobile or desktop and which campaigns drove the call. |
Step 4: Call Analytics Summary
Next, Analytify displays four summary cards confirmed in the dashboard:
- Device Breakdown: call clicks split by device type (desktop, tablet, mobile)
- Peak Hour: the hour of day with the highest call-click volume
- Top Traffic Source: the source/medium driving the most tel link clicks
- Top Country Code: the geographic region generating the most clicks
Pages Driving Calls
Pages that generated the most tel link clicks in the selected period. Use this to identify which content drives call intent.
Devices and Traffic Sources
Analytify breaks down call-click data by:
- Device type (desktop, tablet, mobile)
- Source/medium
- Campaign (when UTM data is available)
Peak Hours Chart
A visual chart showing call-click volume by hour of the day. Identifies the busiest periods for telephone link activity.
Country Codes
A breakdown of call clicks by country code. Shows which regions generate the most telephone link activity and their percentage share of total clicks.
How Peak Hours Work
Analytify determines peak call hours by grouping tel link click events by their local timestamp and displaying volume by hour in a visual chart.
Use Cases
- Identify the busiest calling hours
- Align support or sales availability with demand
- Compare weekday vs. weekend call patterns
- Measure campaign impact on call timing
How Country Code Tracking Works
Each tel link click event passes a country code parameter to GA4, derived from the user’s geographic location as detected by Google Analytics.
Analytify aggregates this data to show which regions generate the most calls.
Use Cases
- Identify top-performing geographic markets
- Optimize localization and language targeting
- Adjust business hours based on high-traffic time zones
- Prioritize regions with high conversion potential
What Happens After Activation
Analytify begins tracking tel link clicks automatically once the addon is active. No additional setup is required.
- Tel link tracking runs automatically.
No manual configuration is required.
- Data continuously syncs with GA4 and updates in your Analytify dashboard.
- Report sections show “No activity during this period” until call-click data is available for the selected date range.
Note: All report sections are filtered by the date range set at the top of the dashboard (From / To). If a section shows no data, confirm that the date range covers a period when tel link clicks occurred.
